The internet has transformed the world for disabled people, and where many of them struggled to find an accommodating workplace prior to the online revolution, now it’s not uncommon for disabled people to earn their living working exclusively on the internet from home.
And they’re not just scraping by – many of them are earning a solid middle class income. Plus, the flexibility of earning money online allows them to schedule their work around their disability.
I, personally know there is no way I could possibly work every day with my Meniere’s disease. But there are stretches where I can put in one, two, or even three hours of work at a time. And while that would never be acceptable with a regular 9-5 job, it’s perfect for working online.
Regardless of what you’ve heard, there’s no secret to earning money online. I know a lot of sites will promise they can make you rich with only 30 minutes of work a week, or that you’ll be a millionaire at the end of 90 days using their program. Surviving Disability isn’t that kind of site.
When I created this site, I set out to help other disabled people make money online, and to help them with their day-to-day life. So, while my methods and suggestions won’t make you rich over-night, they do work, and they could eventually support you comfortably if you stick with them.
But you need to know that none of these methods are fast. Some can take weeks before you’re earning any money, and even my most successful website only earned a few dollars a day for the first six months. Now, that same website earns over one hundred dollars a day, and doesn’t even take an hour a week to maintain. And that’s only one of the many websites I currently operate.
Getting Started
If you’re going to earn money online, you’re going to need an online presence. And one of the first things you need to do is create a website. While there are a few free website hosting options out there, most of them either limit you in some way (i.e. they don’t allow advertising), or they don’t look very professional.
But if you want to find a reliable and affordable place to host your new website, I can’t recommend Bluehost strongly enough. It is one of the largest hosting providers in the world, and makes it very easy for someone new to setup a website.
I’ve used them in the past without issue, and I host the majority of my websites on their servers. They are a great place to get started, and I definitely suggest you check them out first.
